Welcome...
Hello, I am Johnny Rey Salazar and I am a part of the graduating class of 2014 at Lindsay High School. I was born in Porterville, California where I began my early years of elementary school. I began attending Lindsay schools, Jefferson Elementary, during my 2nd and 3rd grade years. There at Jefferson I met some of my friends who I still know and respect in high school. For my 4th grade year, my parents thought it would be best for me to attend a private school located on the outskirts of Lindsay and Exeter, Sierra View Junior Academy. Since tuition at Sierra View increased after my 6th grade year, my parents decided to place me back in the Lindsay School District, and 7th- 8th grade I was enrolled at Steve Garvey Junior High. There at Garvey I met new friends whom I never met while living in Lindsay and established friendships I have relished to this very day.
Throughout my years in elementary and middle school I witnessed myself grow, not only in height, but also in courtesy and maturity. A person who helped better my morality and character was my grandfather, whom I had spent a large quantity of my life with before his passing. I liked to look up to him for moral support; he would teach me the moral standards of being a respectful person. He was an alcoholic through most of his life; but, he had reformed religiously and became the most spiritual and kind hearted man I grew up to know. In my opinion, my grandfather became a fatherly figure I treasured most and I know it would render him great pride to know that I not only finished high school but also to secure happiness in what ever life I choose to live.
As a Lindsay High School student, I have taken classes that I not only felt would support my quest for a college education; but, also be classes I'd enjoy and have fun learning. I have been apart of Honor Guitar Ensemble, FBLA, ASB, Yearbook, and have participated in playing sports such as football and golf. I have tried to keep myself busy throughout the school year and so far that has been accomplished. Now that senior year has finally arrived, I knew "taking it easy" was not an option for me, so I continued to keep myself occupied with difficult classes, sports, and clubs; but , I have also realized the countdown to graduation has commenced along with all the stress and anticipation that runs alongside it. I can honestly claim that my years at Lindsay High School have well benefitted on developing my character as both a student and as a person seeking nothing but success and happiness. Every choice, every action, every decision I have made through my four years at Lindsay High has led up to the current point I am directing in my life. I am excited to take on this senior year and to also engage in this senior project; I look forward in sharing experiences throughout my life, past present or future, and how they have or will shape me in becoming the citizen I am destined to be.
After graduating high school I wish to pursue a career in criminal justice to become a federal law enforcer. I plan to reach my goal by joining the military because I believe the military will discipline me and structure me into becoming a much needed leader for federal law enforcement. I will also be serving and protecting the country I enjoy living in and I will be rewarded education while in service so for me it's hitting two birds with one stone. I am trying my best to not only secure a future for myself, but also secure a future for the family I plan on having in my future. I will learn not only the essentials on leading my squad in the work force; I will also learn to promote myself to work hard and dedicate to supporting the ones I love.
